As Ben Wallace exits Chicago Bulls Nation, Chicago Bulls fans wonder what could have been, and what the heck happened in Ben Wallace's 1.5 years with the team. Dreams of an NBA Title collapsed, in no small part courtesy of Ben Wallace's uninspired and disinterested play while in Bulls red and black.

The entry of Ben Wallace to the Chicago Bulls was met in the Windy City with the excitement that the missing piece had been unearthed, the Detroit Pistons a victim of this discovery, and that the Bulls were on their way to another era of Championship NBA basketball.

Ben Wallace turned out to be, not the terrifying defensive player-of-the year he was with the Detroit Pistons, but a sluggish, boring copy of himself. Can he find a new vigor with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers?-it is possible. If so, it will just go to show that Ben Wallace did not perform as he should have with the Chicago Bulls for whatever reason, and cashed his humungous paychecks without maximum effort.

The Chicago Bulls get Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden in return, which makes the Bulls better, but still in desperate need of a star that can be turned to, to hit big shots in crunch times of meaningful 4th quarters.

As for Ben Wallace, his offense nonexistent, and his defense and intangibles not in full view when with the Chicago Bulls either. A disappointment almost as big as his 'fro itself, Wallace now goes to Cleveland, with Chicago Bulls fans gladly holding the door
open wide as Wallace heads up route 90, due East.

Basketball and other physical sports have the possibility of transforming us. It all depends on how you play the game, of course! A couple years ago I attended a pre-season game in the town of Los Gatos, near where I live in northern California. As usual at these games, half time was a crazy time when kids are welcome to go out on the court and shoot around. Kids of all sizes show up and shoot and share the balls. If you make a shot, you are rewarded by getting the ball back for another shot until you miss. If you miss and dont get the rebound, you have to wait your turn for the next shot.

There is a kind of democracy going on, where each kid has a chance to retrieve a missed shot and then go out and create his or her own shot ... until s/he misses. I imagine these little kids dream of being bigger kids and performing well in games. The basket is a tremendous possibility of success. A long swish shot is a valued thing.

What was most memorable this particular evening was a small, slender and very pretty girl of 7 or 8 who came humbly out to have her chance to shoot some shots. She was sweet and patient. It appeared no one was noticing her, except me from my vantage point under the basket. When she did get a ball, she cradled it in her arms and carefully approached the basket to about 3-4 feet away where she would have a chance to get the big ball (regulation size) up to 10 feet. She did so beautifully, swishing most of her shots. If she made it, she was right there to claim the prize, back out carefully so as not to get hit by other players or balls, and then move in again for another shot. If she missed, she was alert to get another chance.

In that little montage of moments I saw the beauty of the game. Anyone can participate in the half time shoot-around. There is sharing, usually, and once players have a ball, the others let them shoot. They get their chance to go for the brass ring, to go for a Swish. And the reward of a made shot is instantaneous. Make it and you get another chance. Miss it and you have to fight for the ball (or wait for a lucky bounce). Everyone understands those rules. I can only imagine what these young kids were thinking, but Ill bet it was much like my own dreams of success when I was their age.

Tom Nordland is a shooting expert and coach from California via Minnesota. His videos, coaching and writings are inspiring a Renaissance (a rebirth, a revival) in shooting around the world as players and coaches are taught the things that really matter in shooting. A great shooter as a youth, Tom was given a gift of seeing shooting like few have ever seen it. He sees the essence of great shooting and how to get there. The good news is that its very simple. The few great shooters of today and yesterday mastered simple things, not complicated motions. Improved shooting is now possible for everybody in the game, and mastery is available to those who sincerely dedicate themselves to it. Visit Toms website (http://www.swish22.com) to read of his background and his articles and newsletters, and to view the remarkable endorsements and amazing testimonials for this approach to shooting.

Paul Pierce has proven to be the spirit and energy behind the Boston Celtic's sensational 2008 season. Although his game injuries appear to just give Boston more momentum, his injuries are sure working in the teams benefit. Paul is one of those do-everything players who can handle the ball, shoot, score, rebound and even defend, he moves ticket sales all by him self. With his intensity Pierce converts the Celtic's into a championship team.

Born October 13, 1977 in Oakland California nicknamed The Truth. Paul Pierce has earned All American First Team honors in his junior years at Kansas. In 1998 Paul was the 10th overall draft pick by the Celtic's. Since then he has been a starter and a six time all star for the Boston Celtic's. Pierce has often played his best games against the best individual competition, such as LeBron James, Tracy McGrady, and Kobe Bryant. For instance, Pierce scored a career high 50 points in a loss against the Cleveland Cavalier's on February 15, 2006. After the game, James stated that he feels that Pierce is the top at the position in the Eastern Conference.

In 2000 Pierce suffered a set back when he was stabbed 11 times in the face, the neck and back at a Boston night club. He had to undergo lung surgery to repair the wounds and since then has fully recovered from his injuries. With his intensity and stamina, Pierce has finally taken his team to the finals. Along with Garnett, Allen and Pose the Boston Celtic's have finally reached the level in which a championship is inevitable. The 2008 team is most comparable to the the 85-86 Celtic's championship team when Larry Bird let the team to the championship. It's time for history to be repeated for the Boston Celtic's and the 2008 season will be the beginning of a new era of champions for Boston.

Basketball does not just have to be strictly rule regulated play on an indoor wooden court. There are actually many different variations on the game that bring basketball to a whole new level.

Variety is one of the things that makes basketball such a popular sport. With all the ways to play the game it is no wonder that people all over the world are playing the game. That's true no matter who they are, how old they are or what limitations they may physically have.

Game Variation 1: Wheelchair Basketball

Wheelchair basketball, as the name suggests, is played in wheelchairs. The chairs are specially designed so they move quickly and easily down the court. They also are made so players can be agile, much like players in traditional basketball.

Wheelchair basketball is a serious sport that is regulated by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF).

Game Variation 2: Water Basketball

Water basketball, again as the name suggests, is played in water. It can be recreational or as a team regulated sport. In water basketball the rules are a little different. The rules for water basketball combine rules for traditional court basketball and water polo. There is, obviously, no dribbling involved in water basketball.

Game Variation 3: Beach Basketball

Beach basketball is played on the beach and is quite different than other types of basketball. It is not as strict and much more of a physical game than basketball.

Beach basketball is played on a circular court with no backboard on the hoop. There is no dribbling because it is too difficult on the sand. The ball is moved down the court instead by passing or 2 steps. There is also no out of bounds in beach basketball.

Game Variation 4: Informal Basketball

Informal basketball really is not an actual name for a type of basketball, but it is used here to simply describe the type of basketball that most people play - basketball where you are just playing for the fun of the sport. The best kind!

Informal play can have any rules you like, as long as everyone playing agrees to them. There may not even be any organized play, but rather people simply making baskets and having fun.

Basketball is a very flexible sport. It can be played almost anywhere and in anyway you can imagine. In fact, it probably has been played almost everyway imaginable because it is such a popular sport. The thing about basketball that remains the same is making the basket. Every variation of the sport involves a ball and basket with the ultimate goal being to get the ball through the basket to score.

So, no matter how you play basketball it is the right way as long as you have the ball and hoop. You can play whatever way feels best for you with whatever rules you want. You can play with as many players as you want on whatever type of court you want. The bottom line is that you just have fun while you are doing it.
