Don't miss this wild and wacky comedy adventure -- it'll keep you entertained from the opening tip-off to the final-second countdown!
Customer Review: The single greatest piece of cinema excellence
This movie does not encompasses the world.. nor history.. nor anything that the human eye has ever captured. When one thinks of Ernest, one's mind goes right to Slam Dunk Ernest. That movie was delightful. No. No. It was brilliant. No, no, no, no. There is no word to describe its perfection, so I am forced to make one up. And I'm going to do so right now. Scrumtrilescent. Ernest's acting makes Gandhi look like a child pornographer.
Customer Review: Completely blown away
Why this movie was never nominated for an Academy Award, I haven't a clue. I watched this movie last night, and couldn't move afterward. The cinematography, the writing, the acting. It all came together like a Broadway produced ballet. I am definitely a better person for watching "Slam Dunk Ernest."

The NBA's Eastern Conference has one constant this century, and that constant is the Detroit Pistons in the middle of the scrum. Consistent and workman-like, the Detroit Pistons exude the attitude of their hometown, and once again look to take it all the way to an NBA Championship.

Joe Dumars has the blueprint for NBA success, doing it not with a mega-star, but with several well-oiled pieces, forged together to roll without hitch as they gear up for another deep NBA Playoff run come Spring. Overshadowed by fellow backcourt-mate Isiah Thomas during their playing days, Joe Dumars has stayed with the outfit they led to back-to-back NBA Titles, and has easily outclassed Isiah during their days as NBA Executives.

The Detroit Pistons will be a tough-out, as per usual, come the NBA Playoffs. They have again overachieved, in their attempt to stave off young guns and old horses in the East. The Pistons fate will again rest on the shoulders of their three stars primarily. The Pistons are led by their floor general, Chauncey Billups. Aptly nicknamed, "Mr. Big Shot," Billups is a big-game player and an excellent shooter in pressure moments.

Billups is paired in the Pistons backcourt with Richard Hamilton. Hamilton, a silky -smooth shooter with unending energy, is also not afraid of touching the ball in big spots. The frontcourt is led by the enigmatic Rasheed Wallace, who when under emotional control, can be the best offensive player that the Detroit Pistons throw on the floor.

These three and the entire Pistons team will have their hands full as the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs get into later rounds. Specifically, the beast of the East that is the Boston Celtics may well be waiting with home-court advantage.

It has been the Pistons specialty to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, having done so for several straight seasons. For all the talk in Detroit about NBA Titles, they have only won it all once with this core group. The machine stalling in the Eastern Conference Finals more often than not.

Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls 1989-90 Hoops Basketball Card

A quality card from the 1989-90 Hoops Basketball card set.

Now that some teams have been eliminated from the playoffs, expect that there will be lots of coaching interviews that will happen from now until training camp. Two of the most mentioned names so far have been Avery Johnson, who was recently fired by the Mavs, and Mike D'Antoni, the Suns mentor who many expect won't return next season. Another big name who had already landed a job is Larry Brown. Brown joined fellow former Tar Heel Michael Jordan to try to turn things around in Charlotte.

When it comes to the teams who are looking for coaches, the most watched teams have to be Chicago and New York. New York had interviewed Mark Jackson for the job, but the Bulls also seem interested in the former Knick point guard. However, with recent news that Sam Mitchell might be on the chopping block in Toronto, the Knicks might give it a go with Mitchell. Donnie Walsh, the new boss in New York, loved Mitchell's toughness when Mitchell played in in Indiana for Walsh. Some say that Mitchell might be the one who can make Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph work more.

In Toronto, it seems that Bryan Colangelo would be reuniting with Mike D'Antoni if the Suns decide that they would trash their run-run-run style of play. Steve Kerr had emphasized that the only way to win a championship is through defense. If D'Antoni is fired, there is no doubt that Colangelo would hire D'Antoni and build the new run-run-run team in Toronto.

As for the Bulls, GM John Paxon seems to like Avery Johnson. In some reports, they state that Paxon is leaning towards hiring a former player who is "tough" during his playing years. With that said, Avery Johnson and Mark Jackson would be the most fitting candidates for the job.

The coaching carousel continues in the NBA. No man is safe from the axing of the head offices. Not even coaches who compiled a winning record for the team. For team owners and executives, only one thing is important...win a title.
